One simple step can change a life.
Your walk builds hope for a future without suffering—for every person in this fight. Are you with us?

Unable to attend on Sunday, September 15, 2024?
No problem! You are always welcome to walk on your own time.
You can utilize our app to connect with other walkers in your area and across the U.S. who are choosing to walk the same way! No matter how you choose to walk we will all be united by our belief in the need for better care and longer lives for kidney patients – for YOU and the ones you love.

Sunday, September 15
Ontario Beach Park (Rochester, NY)
Check-in begins at 9:30am
What time should I arrive?
Check-in starts at 9:30 am in the Beachfront Pavilion! Once checked-in, explore the fun festivities including Sidney’s Smile Station photo area where you can snap a memorable team pic with Sidney the Kidney, enjoy music, light refreshments, KIDney Korner activities, and more!
Plan to arrive at Ontario Beach Park before 9:30 am? Please plan a little extra travel time to account for Rochester City Half Marathon runners who may be finishing that portion of the course (although we have been advised by Rochester City Half Marathon planners that we should have no problem with driving access to Charlotte).
What is the timeline of events on Walk Day?
10:45 am Introduction and Walk Route ribbon-cutting!
1:00 pm Event concludes.
How long is the walk route?
- The shorter route is 0.61 miles
- The longer route is 1.52 miles
Both routes start between the Sandpiper and Beachfront Pavilions, continue along the boardwalk, and end with walking past the historic Dentzel Menagerie Carousel and back to the Sandpiper and Beachfront Pavilions. The longer route will walk Charlotte Pier.
What if I am unable to walk the route?
We invite you to participate in the Upstate and WNY Kidney Walk in a manner that is meaningful to you! Please feel free to continue enjoying activities, music, and kidney community connections at the Sandpiper and Beachfront pavilions while others walk along the route!
Is the Walk route wheelchair accessible?
Yes! The Kidney Walk, Ontario Beach Park and the Walk route are wheelchair accessible. If you wish to turn back at any point on the route, or you wish to remain at the pavilions, you may absolutely do so!
What happens if it rains?
The Upstate and WNY Kidney Walk will take place rain or shine!
I can’t come to the Walk on Walk Day – can I still participate?
