WHY I WALK I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, called Alport Syndrome. This genetic disease has been severely under researched since my father died from this kidney disease in 1960. My son will require a kidney transplant as a result of this disease, along with many other male members of my family.
