Why We Walk

After managing kidney disease since birth, on September 25, 2023, Jaren had life-saving kidney transplant surgery thanks to his father's generous and selfless donation. While Jaren still has a long road ahead, we can celebrate today's wins: he is a feisty 4th grader, basketball player (with eyes on the NBA!), and aspiring animator, who approaches life with sharp wit and tenacity. We would not have made it through without the continued support of our family, friends, NYU medical team, and the National Kidney Foundation! We walk because too many families (like ours) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.

We walk to support the life-changing work of the National Kidney Foundation:
     - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
     - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
     - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
