Why I Walk
This year, on September 19th, I celebrated one year with a new kidney. I was very fortunate, and my future looks bright. However, there are many people suffering from kidney disease who are on dialysis and on long waiting lists for a new kidney. In the United States, 35.5 million adults, or 1 in 7, have chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, up to 9 in 10 adults with CKD are unaware of their condition. So I ask you to do 2 things. Go to your doctor, have your kidney function tested, and donate to the National Kidney Foundation.I walk to support the life-changing work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure families have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
