My 2024 Wichita Kidney Walk Fundraising Page

Before the transplant, I asked the kids what they thought. Should I become a living donor for my dad? Both of them first asked, “Why wouldn’t you do this for grandpa?” I told them about the risks, and Kinsey said, “Mom, if you ever need a kidney, I’ll give you mine.” Chase didn’t miss a beat & he said, “And Kinsey, if you ever need a kidney, I’ll give you mine.”
I want my dad to be around a long time, and I’ve seen him go through so many medical issues and preparation to receive a kidney. Of course he was the first “why” of “why donate a kidney?”–I want him to be at the kids’ weddings, I want him to see his great-grandkids. But my kids are my second why. I want them to be brave and selfless and to know that they have within them, the power to make a difference in the world. I want to lead them by example.
And the work continues. Now we lobby, and we fundraise, and we walk.
I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
Are you with me?
Please consider supporting my efforts with a generous donation.
