On July 21, 2024, my brother Jeff had his last dialysis treatment. He had been on dialysis since May, 2024 while awaiting a donor match.  On July 22, he received a new kidney from my sister Connie and noticed an immediate difference in having a fully functional kidney. The surgery and recovery process have been successful as both have had a speedy recovery.  

Jeff's wife Leah and I were the "support team" through the recovery process. Our family's experience with organ donation has given us a new appreciation for kidney health and organ donation. 

On Oct. 6, the Wichita Kidney Walk will be held at Chicken N Pickle, 1240 N. Greenwich Rd. in Wichita. Please join us as we celebrate the gift of life with other donors, recipients, family and friends.

Festivities begin at 9:00 am with music, games, information booths and an auction. There will be a program which kicks off the walk and includes a patient story, t-shirt contest and recognition of top fundraisers. 

A give-back brunch will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  A portion of the brunch proceeds will support the work of the Kidney Foundation. 

We will be walking to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
     - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
     - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
     - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
