Why I Walk
This is my first time joining this Kidney Walk for a cause. I walk because I myself is fighting for my life with this devastating chronic illness. I am here to support families and other thousands more who face this unexpected kidney disease diagnosis.
I was first diagnosed with Polycystic Kidney Disease. And now I am on End-Stage Kidney Disease. I am on a transplant waiting list and still waiting for a Living kidney donor. I am having my surgery for Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter placement this wednesday, the week before the Kidney Walk. And I'm about to start on dialysis by October.
I would love to participate to learn more and to engage with this type of support groups.
I chose Sentara Norfolk General Hospital as my team because I am also a part of Sentara Health being that I am employed at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital as Health Info Technician.

I walk to support the families and the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
Are you with me?
