WHY I WALK I walk because in 2021 I was very unexpectedly diagnosed with end stage renal failure due to IgA nephropathy. A short 2 months after my diagnosis, my creatinine was over 26 and I had an emergency surgery to place a catheter in my chest. I began dialysis within the next day or 2 and remained on dialysis until I was fortunate enough to have a kidney transplant on Oct 20th, 2022. Unfortunately, rejection has been an issue for me, but my creatinine levels are remaining steady so hopefully the last round of infusions stopped the rejection. I walk in the hopes that my efforts will someday prevent someone else from being in my shoes! I walk to show the love and appreciation I have for my donor and to raise awareness to others to become donors! I walk in hopes that someday there will be technological advances that might make life better for me and everyone else in my situation! Are you with me?
