WHAT WE'RE DOING - Just letting you know that Pete, Zoey, Jason and I will be doing the National Kidney Foundation's Twin Cities Kidney Walk this year! We hope you can either join us in the Walk at Allianz Field on October 12th or donate to our Team - Polycystic Power! https://www.kidneywalk.org/twincities/Polycystic-Power
WHY WE'RE WALKING - We are walking in memory of our dear friend Jason Koenig's mother, Pat Koening. In 1953, Pat Koenig was born with just one of her kidney's functioning at only 50%. After many doctor visits, it was determined that Pat probably would not live past fourth grade and if she did, her life would never be "normal". Pat had a strong will to live, bring joy to others and create a family of her own. Despite those odds and being told she would not be able to have children, Pat gave birth to Jason in August of 1974. After 20 (!) years on dialysis, Pat lost her battle with kidney disease in 1994 when Jason was just 20 years old. That day, Jason lost his best friend and his biggest hero. Her strength, passion for life and always seeing the good in others made her an inspiration. Since losing his mother to kidney disease, Jason has kept his mother's memory alive by tirelessly giving back to the Kidney community and generally just being a fantastic human!
WHAT WE NEED - Please WALK with us on October 12th! Can't walk? Please donate!! To register or donate click here: https://www.kidneywalk.org/twincities/polycysticpower
