Why We Walk
In 2003, Bill received his first kidney from his friend Tom, who was a living donor. They befriended each other in college and never imagined that years later, Tom would save Bill’s life. After 15 healthy years, Bill needed a second transplant. That’s when we learned about the paired exchange program at Tampa General Hospital.
This program helps recipients get a kidney faster than the traditional waiting list. Thanks to this program, Bill received his second living donor kidney on Valentine's Day of 2019 through a 3-way exchange arranged by the dedicated team at Tampa General. Bill is thriving with his new kidney, and we’re happy to report that the other donors and recipients in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are also doing well!
A kidney transplant is just the beginning of a lifelong journey that includes ongoing medications, doctor visits, lab tests, and dietary changes. The care doesn’t end on transplant day.
Every donation is significant, and your support is vital in the fight against kidney disease. We are deeply grateful for your help.
With gratitude,
Bill & Carina Marsh
