Why I Walk

Twenty-six years ago, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with kidney disease. I faced the challenges of dialysis and the incredible gift of a kidney transplant firsthand. Today, I’m fortunate to work for an amazing organization like Balboa Nephrology, coming full circle in my journey.

But I know my story is not unique. Too many families are still grappling with the devastating impact of chronic kidney disease, and countless others will face this unexpected diagnosis in the coming year.

That’s why I walk to support the life-changing work of the National Kidney Foundation. I walk to:

• Ensure families have a trusted resource when they need answers.
• Advocate for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
• Accelerate innovation in transplantation and get more people off the transplant waitlist.
