Walking for a Cause: My 3rd Year at the Phoenix Kidney Walk
This year’s Kidney Walk is extra special for me. It marks my third year participating—but more importantly, it comes nearly a year after my own kidney was removed. This journey has been personal, challenging, and eye-opening, which is why I’ve set a goal to bring more awareness to kidney disease and the importance of early detection.
Did you know?
🔹 1 in 7 adults in the U.S. has chronic kidney disease (CKD), but most don’t even know it.
🔹 Kidney disease often has no symptoms until it’s in advanced stages. Early detection through routine screenings can make a huge difference.
🔹 High blood pressure and diabetes are the leading causes of kidney disease. Managing these conditions can help protect your kidneys.
The Kidney Walk isn’t just about raising funds—it’s a chance to come together, support each other, and spread awareness. I love that it’s a family-friendly event where people from all walks of life can join. If you can’t make it in person, please consider donating to my team, Are You Kidney Me? (Because let’s be real—humor and sarcasm are my go-to coping mechanisms!)
