Why I Walk

I walk because too many families, like mine, are living with the challenges of kidney disease. I was diagnosed as a young child in the 90’s, and in 2014, my life was saved by the most incredible gift—my sister’s kidney. I’m so beyond thankful for her, and I walk for everyone who is still waiting for that second chance, because sadly, thousands more will face a kidney disease diagnosis in the coming year. That’s only the beginning! 

I walk to support the amazing work of the National Kidney Foundation:

• To give families a place to turn when they need answers, hope, and support.
• To keep pushing for changes that protect kidney patients and living donors.
• To help bring new innovations to transplant medicine, so more people can get off the waitlist and into the arms of loved ones.

Every step I take is a reminder of the precious gift I received—and I walk with all my heart for those still waiting.
