Why I Walk

I am participating in the National Kidney Foundation's walk because, as a patient with IgA Nephropathy, I have experienced firsthand the devastating impact of kidney disease. Diagnosed with end-stage renal failure in October 2021, I endured 15 months of both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis before receiving the incredible gift of a living donor kidney transplant in January 2023. Now, as an ambassador for the IgA Nephropathy Foundation, I am committed to raising awareness and funds to support others facing similar challenges, and to promote the importance of kidney health and research for better treatments and cures.

I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.

I walk to support the life changing work of the National Kidney Foundation:
     - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
     - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
     - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.

Are you with me?

Please consider supporting my efforts with a generous donation.
