Why I Walk
I am participating in the National Kidney Foundation's walk because, as a patient with IgA Nephropathy, I have experienced firsthand the devastating impact of kidney disease. Diagnosed with end-stage renal failure in October 2021, I endured 15 months of both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis before receiving the incredible gift of a living donor kidney transplant in January 2023. Now, as an ambassador for the IgA Nephropathy Foundation, I am committed to raising awareness and funds to support others facing similar challenges, and to promote the importance of kidney health and research for better treatments and cures.I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.
I walk to support the life changing work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
Are you with me?
Please consider supporting my efforts with a generous donation.
