Both of my parents suffered from transplantable organ failure with my father on dialysis for over 6 years until his death and my mother only able to survive for a few weeks after renal failure. Kidney disease is a devastating diagnosis for the patient and their families and treatment is challenging at best. There are currently over 92,000 people in the US waiting for a transplant with an average wait time of between 5 and10 years and many patients just don't have that long.
