Why I Walk
I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating Chronic illness, and Thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.

My Husband was one of those who received an unexpected diagnosis. In November 2024 he received the shocking news that he had Kidney Cancer. This diagnosis came as a complete shock and surprise to our Family. Due to the size of the tumor and other areas of concern in December 2024 he underwent surgery for the Left Kidney removal (Radical Nephrectomy). He has since recovered well and is very happy to say that all the other glands removed came back clear. 

We walk to create awareness for kidney disease. For my husband this Cancer was very Silent. He had back pain for years that he associated with getting older or to a previous injury. Kidney Cancer was discovered from an MRI that was done on his spine for his back pain. We are very fortunate it was caught during this scan. 

Moving forward we want to help and support others who are suffering Kidney Disease.

I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
     - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
     - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
     - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.

Our Team name was created for my husbands Love of Reggae and his Kidney procedure that was done "Radical" Nephrectomy.
