MY STORY

In 2015, at the age of 13, I was diagnosed with Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis (MPGN) type 1. This is where the immune system attacks the kidneys. Since being diagnosed, I have been on numerous immunosuppressants, chemotherapies, steroids, etc. I have had 3 kidney biopsies and 2 chest port surgeries so far. In the 9 years that I have been diagnosed with this chronic kidney disease, I have only entered remission one time. Although I am no longer in remission, I have fortunately never had a drop in kidney function. I have no one to thank but God, my two wonderful parents, my amazing team of nephrologists, and my loving family. I would not be where I am today physically, mentally, or emotionally without their love, support, care, and sacrifices. I owe everything to them and I love them all endlessly and unconditionally🧡💚

WHY I WALK

I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come. I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:

- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.

- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.

- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
