Why I Walk

As far back as I can remember kidneys have been a topic of conversation around my family's dinner table. My cousin and one of my best friends was born with juvenile diabetes. We navigated various stages of life side by side, me as the "normal" kid and he having to constantly build his life around his disease. In 2020, after years of dialysis, he received the lifesaving and life changing gift of a kidney transplant. This was only possible because of the work of the National Kidney Foundation and the incredible medical team at Duke Transplant Center. They save lives, they change families, and their work is just getting started - with our help.
