Why I Walk
This year marks 10 years since I became a kidney survivor. When I was diagnosed with kidney disease, I had no idea where my journey would lead. But through the challenges and hardships, I found strength, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose. The road to recovery wasn’t easy at all , but the support of my family, friends, healthcare professionals, and organizations like the Kidney Foundation has made all the difference.
Walking today represents my victory over a disease that once felt insurmountable. It’s more than just a physical act—it's a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of awareness. Every step I take is for those still struggling, for the research that continues to improve treatments, and for the survivors who inspire me every day.
I walk to raise awareness about kidney disease and to ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers, because I know first hand how vital early detection and treatment are. I walk in honor of those who’ve battled kidney disease, and to celebrate this second chance at life that God has given me and the life I continue to fight for.
Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me
