WHY I WALK
I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.
As you may know, my dad received a kidney transplant only 3 months ago from a phenomenal man that I will always consider a hero! Words are not enough to express the gratitude you feel toward a person that gives so selflessly. My dad has a genetic mutation that can cause kidney disease. I also have that mutation.
My story doesn't start there. I have worked in transplant since starting my nursing career in 2012. I quickly fell in love with organ transplant, the patients, and the generosity of others. I had no idea that 12 years later my dad would be one of those patients!
Today I am a Living Donor Coordinator and get to see blessings and kindness everyday!
I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
Are you with me?
PLEASE CONSIDER SUPPORTING MY EFFORTS WITH A GENEROUS DONATION.
