Why I Walk

I'm walking for my dad, who courageously fought through Stage IV renal sarcoma. He passed a little over a year ago, and we miss him deeply. It's tough sometimes to know how you can contribute, how to make sure that your loved one's pain and battle are not in vain. I'm starting here with the kidney walk, in hopes of raising awareness of kidney disease. I wouldn't wish the emotional, mental, and physical toll cancer takes on the patient and their loved ones on anyone. It's incredibly difficult, but through faith and love, we fight on. Too many families are coping with this devastating chronic illness. Thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.

I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation:
     - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
     - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
     - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
