Why I Walk

Walking for kidney disease is deeply personal to me. A year ago, I was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, a rare autoimmune disorder caused by an accumulation of IgA antibodies in the kidneys. Over time, this causes inflammation and can lead to a buildup of waste and toxins in the body. 

This condition has since led to a dramatic decline in my overall kidney function. As I now wait for a kidney transplant, I feel a profound connection to others facing similar challenges. 

This walk is not just about raising awareness; it's a way to honor those who battle kidney disease every day. Together, we can share our stories, support one another, and advocate for greater research and resources. I walk for hope, for healing, and to remind everyone that we are not alone in this fight.
