WALK FOR WESLEY! Wesley's Story- short version: Wesley was born with a diagnosis of Posterior Urethral Valves (PUV) that caused a Bladder Outlet Obstruction (BOO) that was found at 18 weeks gestation at his anatomy scan. Basically, when Wesley's bladder was developing, a valve grew that prohibited urine from leaving his body. This caused the urine to back up into his kidneys, leaving them very damaged along with his bladder. When he was born, he spent a week in the NICU and had potentially life-saving surgery to remove the valve that was causing the damage. Wesley's left kidney was too damaged in the womb and was born non-functioning. In January 2024, it was removed leaving only the right kidney. Wesley's right kidney was also damaged in the womb, so it's not perfect. Wesley is living in stage 2 kidney disease and his remaining kidney is only functioning at 69%. We are told that he will need a transplant at some point in his life, which we are hopeful to delay this outcome as long as we possibly can. Wesley is sweet, strong, and just the most precious 2 year old. He loves animals, running fast, and family dance parties to "Blue Dance Mode". His favorite food is dino nuggets and popsicles and he loves being outside doing just about anything! Thank you for supporting him and his kidney journey. ❤️ I hope you'll walk with us or consider a donation to the National Kidney Foundation so they can continue doing live-saving work!
