Why I Walk
Hi! My Name is Pat Klickna. I developed kidney disease in the early part of 2020 and didn’t know I had the disease. In July of 2020, I went to the Emergency Room and was told I would have to be admitted because I was in Stage 5 Kidney Disease.
For the next 13 months, I worked with my Nephrologist to try to stop the progression. I needed to go on dialysis and get on a transplant list because the disease had spread so fast. Fortunately, my son went through extensive testing and was able to donate his kidney.
This year, my family has joined others throughout the country in the effort to fight against kidney disease. I walk because I know how the people waiting for a kidney transplant feel. I’ve felt how anxious they are hoping today will be the day they hear they have found a match.
My family team, all ten of us, have walked and volunteered for the past three years. They know how important it is to help others like myself and to support the life-changing work of the National Kidney Foundation.
On October 6, 2024, the date of this year’s Denver Kidney Walk, will be my third anniversary of my transplant! Please consider supporting those individuals waiting for a kidney transplant. Thank you.
Please consider supporting my efforts with a generous donation.
