WHY I WALK: September 15, 2024 I am witness to the impact this devastating chronic illness has had on our family. I am also witness to the lifesaving, selfless acts of living donors: We have 2 family members who donated a kidney to save the lives of our loved ones: In 2015, my sister Dina received a kidney from her husband (my brother-in-law) Brian. That life-saving victory inspired my husband Mike to donate a kidney to his brother Bill in 2023. Too many families are coping with this chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come. I walk to support the lifechanging work of the National Kidney Foundation: - To ensure families will have a place to turn when they need answers. - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors. - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
