Gabriel's Village
Why We Walk
Gabriel was born prematurely due to kidney-related complications. Now, at 2.5 years old he continues to prove his warrior spirit as he lives with chronic kidney disease each day - a disease that's irreversible.
The phrase, "It takes a village to raise a child" means that the successful upbringing of a child is a collective endeavor with support, and involvement of an entire community. It suggests that parents are not alone. Teachers, friends, neighbors, extended family members, and other community members all play crucial roles in ensuring the child has a safe, supportive, and enriching environment to thrive in.
We are truly thankful to our village and for new friends who team up with us to join others throughout the country to fight against kidney disease. On October 27, 2024 we’ll walk in Austin TX for Gabriel, other loved ones, and those who cope with this devastating chronic illness each day – and for those who lost their fight too soon.
Together, we walk to raise awareness and funds to support the life changing work of the National Kidney Foundation:
- To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
- To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
- To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.
Will you join us?
Walk with us and fundraise -or- support our efforts with a donation to improve the lives of kidney patients in our community and across the country. Thank you for supporting and being a part of the village!
