Why I Walk

This organization is so important to me. I honestly don't know how better to say it than this: Having family members with chronic diseases can make you feel helpless. There are few tangible things you can do to support someone through it (outside of loving them!), but supporting NKF means that people with kidney disease have an organization advocating for them, pushing for strides in research, providing education, and even providing places of joy in the midst of hardship.

Nearly 9 years after donating my kidney, there are still days where I wish I had another one to give. Dialysis is a beast, and it's not easy on your body. NKF is a vocal advocate for organ donation and transplantation. If anyone reading this is interested in becoming a donor, please reach out. I'm happy to talk about my experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Looking below, NKF expresses my feelings about the walk perfectly:

I walk because too many families (like mine) are coping with this devastating chronic illness, and thousands more will face an unexpected kidney disease diagnosis in the year to come.

I walk to support the life-changing work of the National Kidney Foundation:
     - To ensure that families will have a place to turn when they need answers.
     - To keep up the fight for policy changes to protect kidney patients and living donors.
     - To drive innovation in transplantation and get more loved ones off the kidney transplant waitlist.

Are you with me?

Please consider supporting my efforts with a generous donation.
