Why We Walk

As a teenager, Isabella was diagnosed with severe kidney failure. She was put on dialysis and in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Her family posted “Kidney 4 Izzy” signs everywhere they could. And then, a so-called stranger, Maranda, saw the sign and felt moved to see if she was a match for Izzy. And. She. Was! 🙌 On May 5, 2023, Maranda gave Izzy a new kidney and a new life. 💚✨

Inspired by Izzy's story, another "stranger," Libby, saw the sign and felt called to offer her kidney. While she wasn’t a match for Izzy, Libby discovered the urgent need for kidney donors and decided to move forward. On January 3, 2024, Libby donated her kidney to another “stranger,” who is now back to living her best life. 🌈💪

Living kidney donation is a powerful way to save a life. It's a gift that can restore health, give years back to families, and provide a second chance. Every day, thousands of people wait for the call that could save their life—a kidney transplant. Unfortunately, the number of people waiting far exceeds the number of kidneys available. Luckily – each of us only needs one working kidney!
