The Kidney Walk is back in person this year!  After two long years, I am excited to be joining others again for a purpose so deeply meaningful to me.  In fact, two years ago, I joined the staff at NKF because I witnessed the impact of their life-changing work.  And as a healthy transplant recipient, I wanted to be part of the effort and pay it forward.

What I also saw these past two years was that my battle with kidney failure years ago pales in comparison to what kidney patients faced during the COVID pandemic. In fact, the pandemic killed so many dialysis patients that their total number shrunk for the first time in nearly half a century.  

At the same time, I am moved by so many who stepped forward to fight even harder for those suffering, including my friend and colleague Amy who donated her kidney in March!  For us, the mission is real and impactful and personal.  The Walk is a time to acknowledge the challenges while cheering on the efforts of all those fighting for a healthier community.
