Why I Walk

I walk because 15% of the adult population has kidney disease.  Many of the people who have kidney disease don't even know it. 

I walk because I was part of that statistic.  My kidneys were functioning at 3%.  I was on dialysis for 10 hours a day.  It was one of the darkest times of my life. 

I walk because my dear friend since high school, Mike Zangara, gave me one of his kidneys.  He saw how sick I was and the machines keeping me alive.  He chose to selflessly give part of his body to save me.  

I walk to raise awareness so people will get screened. I walk for innovation in transplantation.
